Two American humanitarian aid workers sustained injuries Thursday morning in a grenade attack at an aid distribution site in Rafah, Gaza. The incident occurred while civilians were gathered to receive food and supplies.
According to official reports, terrorists threw two grenades into the distribution center. One of the grenades exploded, injuring two personnel from the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF), a U.S.-based organization.
Lieutenant Colonel Nadav Shoshani, an English-language spokesman for the IDF, highlighted the attack on social media, stating that Hamas and other militant groups in Gaza are actively disrupting humanitarian operations. Shoshani confirmed that IDF troops facilitated the safe evacuation of the injured workers for medical treatment.
Reverend Johnnie Moore, a spokesperson for the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation, confirmed the incident, tweeting, “This morning, two American aid workers were injured distributing food as part of GHF activities.” He added, “Early indication is that this was hostile action by Hamas. GHF continues to investigate and will update with more information as it becomes available.”
Moore expressed relief that the injuries were not life-threatening and requested prayers for the victims and their families. He emphasized, “All we want to do is feed Gazans. That’s all. These Americans are heroes who put their lives in harm’s way every day to do it.”
As of Friday, the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation has not released the names of the injured workers but confirmed they are receiving medical treatment and are in stable condition.
