The Belzer Rebbe shlita was hospitalized at Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital in Yerushalayim on Friday after suffering a broken leg, while the Gerrer Rebbe shlita, suffering from a fractured shoulder, will remain in his home over Shabbos.
According to Bechadrei Charedim, the Gerrer Rebbe is receiving oxygen and there were conversations about him being hospitalized.
The Belzer Rebbe is expected to remain in the hospital over Shabbos and undergo surgery in the near future.
Following tests conducted Thursday night that revealed the fracture, the Rebbe was admitted for treatment. According to reports, the surgery is being scheduled as soon as possible to alleviate the pain he is experiencing.
In response to the news, leaders of the Belz community have called for widespread tefilos, including the recitation of Shir HaShirim at the start of Shabbos.
Additionally, women in the community were asked to recite the 15 perakim of Shir HaMa’alos in Tehillim after lighting their Shabbos candles.
The Gerrer Rebbe fell about two weeks ago on Shabbos while residing at Moshav Ora, and suffers from a fractured hand. He has been very weak and has not been able to hold kabalas panim for Chasidim in preparation for the Yamim Noraim.
The public is being asked to daven for the Belzer Rebbe, (Rav) Yissachar Dov ben Miriam, and the Gerrer Rebbe, (Rav) Yaakov Aryeh ben Yuta Hena.
