The families of four Jewish hostages were notified Wednesday night that their loved ones were murdered by Hamas terrorists in Gaza, the Prime Minister’s Office said Thursday.

Ohad Yahalomi Hy”d, 50, Tzahi Idan Hy”d, 49, Shlomo Mantzur Hy”d, 85, and 68-year-old Itzik Elgarat, Hy”d, were identified by the Health Ministry’s Abu Kabir Forensic Institute, together with police.

Itzik, Ohad and Tzahi were murdered while hostages in Gaza, says the PMO, and Shlomo was killed during the Oct. 7 massacre; his body was kept in Gaza.

President Yitzchak Herzog said Thursday that the hearts of Israelis ache “upon receiving the bitter news of the identification of Ohad Yahalomi, Tsachi Idan, Itzik Elgarat, and Shlomo Mantzur.”

He writes on social media that there is “some solace” knowing they will be buried with dignity in Israel.

The return of the slain hostages “underscores our moral obligation to do everything in our power to bring back all the hostages,” he wrote.
