The Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories (COGAT), part of Israel’s Defense Ministry, announced that 83 trucks carrying humanitarian supplies entered the Gaza Strip on Friday.
This delivery marks the continuation of aid shipments that resumed earlier this week. Israel had paused humanitarian deliveries to Gaza since March 2, but restarted them on Monday.
COGAT stated that the renewed aid efforts were made “following the recommendation of professional IDF officials and in accordance with the directive of the political echelon.”
The aid trucks delivered essential goods, including flour, food products, pharmaceutical drugs, and medical equipment, according to COGAT.
Before being allowed into Gaza, the supplies were inspected by Israeli authorities at the Kerem Shalom crossing.
Despite the renewed flow of aid, United Nations officials say that distributing these supplies within Gaza remains difficult due to ongoing insecurity, Hamas confiscations, the risk of looting, and coordination challenges with Israeli forces.
