Agudah’s Washington Director Rabbi Abba Cohen to Retire

Agudas Yisrael’s long-time Washington director Rabbi Abba Cohen is retiring, the organization annonced Wednesday.
In addition to his 36-year-long tenure as director the Washington Office, Cohen served as the Vice President for Government Affairs.
In a statement announcing his retirement, Agudah said that Conen is a “universally respected in the nation’s capital as a skilled spokesman and tireless advocate for the Orthodox Jewish community, as a model of honor and impeccable integrity, as a paradigm of keen intelligence and consummate professionalism.”
Cohen’s work focused on raising awareness across the political spectrum and “throughout the federal government about the unique nature, needs and concerns of Orthodox Jewry, and in the process have helped shatter many negative stereotypes,” the statement continued.
