Apple officially acquired the Tel Aviv-based Q.ai startup, which was founded in 2022 by Aviad Maizels.

The move comes as Apple, X, Meta, and Google are all battling fiercely for AI dominance.

Apple confirmed the deal for Q.ai, which specializes in imaging and ML to decode whispered or silent speech and clarify audio in noisy settings, building on features like AirPods’ live translation. The tech also senses subtle facial muscle movements, potentially elevating Vision Pro.

This is Apple’s biggest acquisition since acquiring Beats in 2014 for $3 Billion.

This sale is the second time founder Aviad Maizels is selling to Apple,PrimeSense, acquired 2013, which powered the shift to Face ID on iPhones.

The company’s co-founders Yonatan Wexler and Avi Barliya will join apple too, along with the full 100 employees.
