BDE: Harav Dovid Kamenetzky, zt”l, Son of Hagaon Harav Shmuel

Harav David Kamenetzky, zt”l, son of yblch”t Z’kan Roshei Yeshiva Hagaon Harav Shmuel Kamenetsky shlita, was niftar over Shabbos, his family told Israeli media Motzoei Shabbos.

Rav Dovid was 68 years old, and was sick for some time before his petirah.

He was the head of the Pirkei Eliezer Institute, and did extensive research into the Torah of the Gra.

He grew up in the shadow of his grandfather, the legendary Hagaon Harav Yaakov Kaminetzky, zt”l, Rosh Yeshiva of Torah Vodaath and a member of the Moetzes Gedolei HaTorah of Agudas Yisrael in America.

He married Mrs.Esther, the daughter of Harav Mordechai Neustadt, zt”l, of Borough Park and Bnei Brak, who headed the “Vaad Hatzolas Nidchei Yisrael.”

Later, he moved to Eretz Yisrael, where he become established in Yerushalayim and immersed himself in Torah, becoming one of the foremost experts in anything related to the Torah of the Gaon and founded Pirkei Eliezer to that end. During his life, he authored several studies that caused a great stir in the Olam HaTorah.

He was also one of the editors of the Schottenstein Shas in both English and Hebrew and the author of the Torah journal ‘Yeshurun’. He also served as the Rav of Yeshiva Darchei Noam in Yerushalayim.

Rav Dovid is survived by sons, daughters, sons-in-law, and grandchildren, all following in his path.
