BDE: Mrs. Malkie Mitnick, a’h, Menaheles of Lev Bais Yaakov

With sadness we report the petirah of Mrs. Malkie Mitnick, a’h, long-time Menaheles of Lev Bais Yaakov.

Mrs. Mitnick was the daughter of the Peekskill Rosh Yeshiva, Rav Elya Kanarek shlita, and Rebbetzin Rifka Leah Kanarek.

She carried a noble yichus as the granddaughter of the illustrious Roshei Yeshivos, Rav Shaul Brus, zt”l, and Rav Yisroel Eliezer Kanarek, zt”l.

Described by family as a “selfless visionary who never missed a detail,” Mrs. Mitnick was described by those close to her as someone who saved the world one person at a time. Her professional and communal life was centered on the chinuch and growth of Bnos Yisroel.

For many years, she served as the beloved principal of Lev Bais Yaakov, where she molded the lives of countless students with wisdom and warmth. She was also a cherished and adored staff member at Camp Bnos, leaving an indelible mark on generations of campers and colleagues alike.

Mrs. Mitnick is survived by her husband, Rabbi Mordechai Yehuda Mitnick, and her parents, Rav Elya and Rebbetzin Rifka Leah Kanarek.

She was the eldest of ten siblings. She leaves behind a beautiful family of children following in her path:

The levayah will be held at Shomrei Hadas Chapel on Sunday morning at 10:30 a.m. The kevurah will take place in Eretz Yisroel.
