Reb Mordechai Levi, z”l, a familiar presence at the Kosel HaMaaravi for over half a century, passed away on Friday at the age of 81.
For more than fifty years, morning, afternoon, and evening, Reb Mordechai could be found at the Kosel. Distinguished by his flowing white beard and radiant smile, he dedicated himself to greeting visitors at the Kosel. He became renowned for his heartfelt, original brachos —often delivered in joyful rhymes – that brought comfort and warmth to countless mispallelim arriving to daven.

Reb Mordechai was deeply devoted to the kedushah of the Kosel HaMaaravi. He consistently urged visitors to treat the last remnant of the Beis Hamikdash with the utmost reverence, gently encouraging the public to approach the holy site with appropriate tznius.
In recent years, as he grew older and his health weakened, his visits to the Kosel became less frequent. He was niftar on Friday, leaving behind a legacy of love for his fellow Jews and a deep connection to the Makom HaMikdash.
The levayah was held on Erev Shabbos, followed by kevurah at Har HaMenuchos in Yerushalayim shortly before the onset of Shabbos.
Yehi zichro baruch.
