Iran’s Chief Rabbi Yehuda Gerami, attended an international seminar for Rabanim in Puerto Rico on Monday. He then flew to Los Angeles to continue his fundraising trip in the United States for the Iranian Jewish community.
Rabbi Gerami plans to return to Iran in two weeks, skipping the high-profile funerals of Iranian President Raisi and the Foreign Minister, scheduled for Thursday, the Rabbi revealed Belaaz in an exclusive conversation.
Rabbi Gerami maintains a close relationship with the Iranian government and had met with the now-dead President Raisi several months ago during a gathering with faith leaders in Iran. He also paid a visit to the family of the IRGC General Soleimani after his assassination.
This is an obvious move in order to protect the Jewish community, which makes Rabbi Gerami’s decision to skip Raisi’s funeral even more shocking.
