Over 60% of New York City Jews say that they feel less safe after Democratic Socialist Zohran Mamdani won the mayoral election last week, according to a Belaaz poll taken over the weekend.

The poll surveyed 494 participants, asking the question: “Are you scared to live in NYC now that Zohran Mamdani just won?”
Of those surveyed, 42% of participants responded, “Yes,” Jews are less safe, 36% replied “No,” stating that the danger was “overrated.”
Adding to their feelings of Jews being less safe, a separate 16% said they were “staying & fighting” and 6% said they were “Packing their bags” and leaving the city.
Mamdani, a 34-year-old Democratic Socialist and now the city’s first Muslim mayor, ran on a staunchly progressive platform and frequently slammed Israel.
