The bodies of father and son, Yusef and Hamza al-Ziadneh, two Israeli hostages kidnapped alive by Hamas terrorists on October 7, have been recovered from Gaza by IDF forces and returned to Israel.
Statement by Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu: “On my behalf and on behalf of my wife, I would like to express deep sorrow for the bitter news that the Al-Ziadneh family received today. We hoped and worked for the safe return of the four family members from Hamas captivity.
We returned the children Bilal and Aisha on November 23, and we wanted to return Yusef and Hamza the same way. I send my deepest condolences to the family.

I thank the IDF and Shin Bet forces for their determined activity to recover our hostages. We will continue to make every effort to bring all of our hostages home – both the living and the dead.”
Statement by Defense Minister Yisrael Katz: “I would like to extend my deepest condolences to the Al-Ziadneh family following the recovery of the bodies of Yusef and Hamza, who were kidnapped by Hamas terrorists on October 7 and rescued in a courageous operation,” Defense Minister Katz said.
Statement by Israeli President Herzog on the discovery by the IDF in Gaza

“Our hearts ache over the immense tragedy of the Ziyadne family, who received the devastating news that Israeli security forces had recovered the body of Youssef from Hamas captivity in Gaza, while they remain in deep anxiety over Hamza’s fate.
They have endured 460 days of worry, hope, and endless longing, during which Youssef’s children, Aisha and Bilal, were released in a hostage exchange.
Time is running out. Youssef was abducted alive! Our hostages are in immediate life-threatening danger. We must continue to do everything possible to urgently return 99 of our brothers and sisters—the living to their families and the fallen and murdered to be laid to rest in dignity.”
