The Prime Minister’s office announced that the body returned from Gaza tonight, Monday, is identified as that of Hostage Tal Chaimi hy”d.

Tal left behind his wife Ella and 4 children—including one he never met.

On October 7, he fought bravely against Nukba terrorists at Kibbutz Nir Yitzchak’s gate. Tal fell in battle and was abducted to Gaza. Initially, his family believed he was alive, but after two months, his family learned he was taken deceased.

IDF Statement: “After completing the identification process by the National Center for Forensic Medicine in collaboration with Israel Police and the Military Rabbinate, IDF representatives informed the family of Hostage Master Sergeant Tal Chaimi, z”l, that their loved one has been returned for burial. Based on available information and intelligence, Master Sergeant Tal Chaimi, z”l, commander of the emergency response squad in Nir Yitzchak, fell in battle defending the kibbutz on the morning of October 7, 2023, and his body was abducted by the Hamas terrorist organization. Tal Chaimi, z”l, aged 41 at the time of his death, was declared deceased on December 13, 2023. He is survived by his wife, four children, father, and sister. The IDF shares in the family’s grief and continues to invest all efforts in recovering the bodies of hostages while preparing to implement the agreement further. Hamas is required to fulfill its part in the agreement and make all necessary efforts to return the deceased hostages to their families for a proper burial.”
