In an extraordinary advisory released Sunday, Israel’s National Security Council (NSC) has issued a heightened travel warning for Canada, citing a “growing threat from terrorist actors targeting Israelis and Jews.”

As a result, the NSC has upgraded the travel alert level for Canada from Level 1 (standard) to Level 2 — defined as “increased caution due to a situational threat.” The decision follows a wave of anti-Semitic and anti-Israeli incidents over the past 18 months, including shootings, Molotov cocktail attacks, and direct threats against Jewish institutions and individuals.

The NSC specifically highlights Toronto and Waterloo as high-risk areas, particularly in light of anti-Israel protests expected to take place there today (Sunday), coinciding with pro-Israel rallies.

Quoting the advisory: “The NSC recommends that Israelis in Canada adopt heightened caution, avoid displaying overt Israeli or Jewish symbols, and remain alert in public spaces.”

Israeli security sources report a recent spike in extremist rhetoric surrounding these events, including explicit threats that may indicate intent to carry out violent acts. In light of this, the public is urged to follow local police instructions closely and to avoid any confrontations with anti-Israel demonstrators.
