In an unprecedented move, Prime Minister Netanyahu convened a government meeting on Shabbos to approve the hostage deal, which will begin tomorrow, Sunday.

This is one of the rare instances in which the government met during Shabbos, following a long meeting of the security-cabinet earlier in the day.

For the government meeting, the religious ministers arrived in Shabbos clothing an hour before Shabbos, and left notes with their votes before returning to their homes right before Shkia. Other ministers, including religious ministers, stayed in government offices and at a hotel near the Prime Minister’s office.

A government minister told Belaaz News that the Prime Minister’s office had prepared a Shabbos meal for the ministers, including grape juice, challah, fish, and chicken, with Shabbos candles also provided for the Woman ministers.

After a lengthy discussion that continued into the early hours of the morning, the framework for the release of the hostages was approved. The release will begin tomorrow, with the first three hostages set to be freed. The ceasefire will begin at 8:30 AM (Israel time).
