The family of hostage Avinatan Or marked a deeply touching moment Thursday with the bris of the family’s latest addition in Shiloh, just hours after the announcement of the hostage deal.
Yisrael Ganz, governor of the Binyamin Regional Council, who has supported the family throughout the past two years, attended the simcah and congratulated grandmother Ditza Or on the doubly joyous occasion.
The Or family, whose son Avinatan has been held in Gaza since October 7, 2023, gathered to welcome the birth of his niece’s baby boy. Galia, Avinatan’s sister, announced that her son would be named Tzuri Gilad during the bris, a moment that moved the entire audience.
Ganz, who has remained close to the family throughout the ordeal, was joined by Yehudit Nitzan, mother of Gilad Nitzan Hy’d, a fellow Shiloh resident who was killed in Gaza.
Congratulating Ditza Or and her family, Ganz expressed hope and anticipation for Avinatan’s return. “We are filled with anticipation and excitement ahead of the expected return of the hostages — among them two residents of the Binyamin Regional Council, Avinatan Or and Rom Braslavski,” he said.
“On a day like this, I was deeply moved to take part in the joyful bris of the dear and courageous Or family. Together with these precious families, we have prayed — and continue to pray — to see the hostages return home very soon, alongside the continued victory of the State of Israel over all its enemies.”
