The Bureau of Prisons on Thursday reversed cuts it made to halfway house time for prisoners, the Tzedek organization announced.

Last week, the BOP reduced halfway house time, used by Jewish prisoners to spend time with their families on Yamim Tovim, from 12 months to just two.

Tzedek brought the worries of prisoners’ relatives to the Department of Justice and the BOP.

The reversal is scheduled to be announced by the BOP later Thursday, Tzedek said.

“This besurah tovah just in time for the Chag HaGeulah of Pesach brings immense relief and joy to so many families,” Rabbi Moshe Margaretten, President of Tzedek told Belaaz in an exclusive statement.

“We’ve heard from countless loved ones who were devastated by the thought of losing those precious many months of support and transition. Restoring access to halfway houses means restoring hope—the hope of healing, of second chances, and of finally coming home. We thank the DOJ and BOP for hearing the voices of families and doing the right thing”, Rabbi Margeretten said in a statement to Belaaz.
