Caught on Tape Over 7 Times: Serial Bike Thief Haunts Five Towns Over Sukkos

A brazen bike thief has been prowling the Five Towns during Sukkos, breaking into backyards and garages to steal expensive bicycles and scooters — and he’s been caught in the act on camera over seven times.

The Rockaway Nassau Safety Patrol (RNSP) have stepped up midnight patrols in response, urging residents to stay alert.

The thief targets locked garages in the middle of the night, between the hours lf 1:30am and 4:30am. All of the thefts have occurred in Lawrence, Cedarhurst and Woodmere, according to RNSP.

Residents are being urged to secure their property and keep an eye out for suspicious activity.

The thefts began shortly before Yom Tov but have increased over the holiday.

So far, no arrests have been made and the suspect has yet to be identified, but law enforcement is reviewing surveillance footage, gathered by RNSP, to nvestigate the case.

“This suspect has been terrorizing our residents,” a spokesperson for RNSP told Belaaz. “Some people are away for the holidays; if they come back and see that they have been victimized, or if anyone sees the suspect, they should call police and RNSP immediately. We’re out there patroling and trying our best to put this to an end.”
