Jerusalem, Israel – In a heartfelt letter shared exclusively with Belaaz, Kalman Ber, the Ashkenazi Chief Rabbi of Israel and President of the Chief Rabbinic Council, extended this morning (Thursday) his congratulations to Rabbi Yehuda Kaploun on his recent appointment by President Donald Trump as a personal envoy tasked with combating the alarming rise of antisemitism worldwide.
Chief Rabbi Ber praised President Trump for his moral clarity and unwavering friendship toward the Jewish people, noting that the appointment of Rabbi Kaploun reflects the leader’s deep respect for faith, freedom, and moral responsibility. “Under an administration that proudly stands with the people of Israel and shows deep respect for faith, freedom, and moral responsibility, you have the opportunity to be a powerful voice on behalf of those in need,” the letter stated.

The Chief Rabbi expressed his hopes for Rabbi Kaploun’s success in this critical role: “With God’s help, may you succeed in this noble mission – bringing hope and security to Jewish communities around the world, and upholding the values of compassion and tolerance that uplift all humanity.”
The letter also conveyed gratitude to President Trump on behalf of Rabbi Ber and the Jewish people, emphasizing the significance of America’s role as a beacon of moral leadership. “Time and again, America has stood a beacon of moral leadership and a defender of those in peril, and President Trump stands in the forefront of this effort in our times,” Rabbi Ber wrote.
