A man who Crown Heights Shomrim describe to Belaaz as a prolific thief was arrested Monday in connection with a weekend office burglary with the help of the volunteer community safety group

Shomrim used surveillance footage to track who police sources identified to Belaaz as Timothy Golston, a man in his 40s, from the scene of the crime back to his residence.

The burglaries took place on Sunday, when four MacBook laptops, valued at several thousands of dollars, were missing from a busy Crown Heights office.

After being notified of the break-in, Shomrim  launched an immediate investigation. By reviewing surveillance video from the area, they were able to trace the suspect’s movements.

On Monday, Shomrim volunteers spotted the suspect in person. They immediately notified the local NYPD precinct. Shomrim said the NYPD officers arrived “very quickly.” With the video evidence and preliminary police reports already prepared, they were able to make a swift arrest.

According to the anonymous law enforcement source, Golston is also the primary suspect in a separate weekend theft where he allegedly worked with an accomplice to steal a few thousand dollars worth of tools.

The source also shared that Golston is believed to be “singlehandedly causing a lot of issues” in the neighborhood and that the  District Attorney’s office is determined to make the charges against him stick, aiming to put a stop to the recent string of thefts.
