A massive explosion ripped through the Accurate Energetic Systems manufacturing plant in McEwen, Tennessee, on Friday morning, leaving authorities reporting that several people remain unaccounted for and some have died.

Accurate Energetic Systems, established in 1980, specializes in the development, manufacture, handling, and storage of high-quality energetic products for both defense and commercial markets. The company confirmed the incident occurred at its McEwen facility, which sits on the border of Humphreys and Hickman Counties.

Humphreys County Sheriff Chris Davis told reporters, “We do have several people at this time that’s unaccounted for. We are trying to be mindful of families and that situation. We do have some folks. We can confirm that we do have some that are deceased.”

Davis described the incident as “a devastating explosion” that took place at 7:45 a.m. CDT. The Hickman County Sheriff’s Office confirmed, “There has been an explosion at Accurate Energetic Systems in the Bucksnort area. Emergency services are currently on the scene working to address the situation. Important: Please avoid the area to allow emergency responders to do their work. If you are in the area, stay clear and follow the instructions from local authorities.”

Authorities continue rescue operations, and the situation remains fluid. Residents in the area are being urged to stay away from the site as emergency teams carry out recovery and safety measures.
