Federal and local law enforcement officials announced plans to step up canvassing efforts in a hate crime investigation after cars belonging to Jews in Missouri were set on fire.
According to police, an individual set vehicles on fire at the home of a Jewish family during the early morning hours of Aug. 5, but the investigation was opened this week.
The arson took place in the 7500 block of Westmoreland Avenue, authorities said.
Investigators plan to go door-to-door on Dec. 30 and Dec. 31 in an effort to gather information that could help identify the suspect or suspects responsible.
Several organizations have combined to offer a $57,000 reward for information leading to an arrest or a conviction in the case.
