The FBI has seen a significant surge in new agent applications since Kash Patel took over as director in late February. With over 10,000 applications received since January when Trump took office, March 2025 alone accounted for 5,577 applications – the highest monthly total since April 2016. This represents a notable increase from the monthly averages of 2,797 in 2023 and 3,383 in 2024.
FBI spokesman Ben Williamson told Fox News that this surge is attributed to Director Patel and Deputy Director Dan Bongino’s efforts to restore confidence in federal law enforcement and boost new agent recruiting.
“These record early returns certainly suggest the new FBI is heading in the right direction”, Williamson said.
