A Filipina caregiver who was critically injured in a missile strike during last month’s 12-day war between Israel and Iran has passed away from her wounds, raising the Israeli death toll from the Iranian attacks to 29.

Leah Mosquera, 49, was seriously wounded when a ballistic missile fired from Iran struck her home in Rehovot on June 15. According to the Philippine Embassy in Israel, she had been receiving treatment at Shamir Medical Center, where she underwent several surgeries over the course of the past month.

Throughout her hospitalization, Leah was accompanied by her sister Joy, who also works as a caregiver in Israel.

The embassy announced that Leah’s body will be flown back to the Philippines for burial. In its statement, the embassy also reiterated its call “for the protection of civilians, including foreign workers, during times of conflict.”
