Former Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant says he ordered the military to double the tonnage of explosives used to take out Hezbollah head Hassan Nasrallah last year, in a Thursday interview with Yediot Acharanot.
“I asked, how many tons of explosives will they use to eliminate Nasrallah? They told me 40, and I said ‘double it,'” Gallant said in the interview.
The IDF eliminated Nasrallah along with other high-ranking Hezbollah terrorists in an airstrike on September 27, as part of a successful campaign to decimate the Iran-backed Islamic terror group, which had displaced many thousands of Israelis after almost a year of incessant rockets, missiles and drones lobbed into Israel from the northern border.
Nasrallah’s funeral is scheduled to take place on Feb. 23, around 5 months after his elimination in an IDF airstrike in Lebanon, his successor said Sunday.
