When Rabbi Yossi Eliav arrived on Shlichus at Chabad of Clinton Hill & Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, he wasn’t planning to start a security company.

But like many Shluchim and Rabbis — especially after October 7th — he saw colleagues across the country facing serious threats: attempted break-ins, antisemitic vandalism, and rising concerns over community safety.

Most centers had security cameras. But they were only useful after the fact.

“What if someone was watching live and could stop things before it was too late?” Rabbi Eliav asked.

That question led to something far bigger than anyone could have imagined.

What began as a security solution for Chabad Houses and Shuls is now a rapidly growing national company: US Virtual Guard — a premium live video monitoring service now protecting businesses, multifamily properties, office buildings, luxury homes, construction sites, warehouses, and community centers across the country.

Unlike traditional systems, US Virtual Guard provides real-time human oversight. Trained guards actively monitor camera feeds, assess situations in context, issue live voice-down warnings via horn speakers, alert on-site personnel, and contact law enforcement when needed.

While live monitoring technology exists in other sectors, nothing was built for the unique rhythms of Jewish life — or the complexity of high-traffic, high-risk properties.

“No typical command center understands what a Chabad House looks like on a Friday night,” said Rabbi Eliav. “So we trained our own team — and built the software ourselves.”

That software, called Shomer, was designed specifically for dynamic environments where AI-only systems fail.

“There’s no AI that can interpret human behavior inside a preschool, a shul, or an operating business,” Eliav explained. “We knew we had to build something smarter — and we did.”

Today, Shomer is being used nationwide — not only in Jewish institutions, but by clients in commercial real estate, logistics, retail, and private estate security.

For Shluchim and Jewish institutions, it continues to deliver what it was built for: peace of mind, constant oversight, and real-time protection for mikvahs, classrooms, dormitories, and food pantries.

For businesses and high-value properties across the country, US Virtual Guard now provides something even more powerful: a proactive security layer built on context, human intelligence, and live intervention — enhancing on-site security and, in many cases, significantly reducing costs by replacing or supplementing physical guards.
