The Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) announced Monday that it has officially launched aid operations in Gaza, delivering food by truck to new distribution locations. From there, supplies were handed out to Palestinian recipients.
This comes in response to earlier Hebrew media reports suggesting that the U.S.- and Israeli-supported foundation had failed to start operations as scheduled.
Photos shared by the GHF show Gazans collecting aid packages, although the foundation did not specify how much aid was distributed. In its statement, the group promised more trucks would arrive tomorrow and that daily aid flow would steadily grow.
The GHF also condemned death threats from Hamas terrorists directed at groups cooperating with its efforts. The foundation accused Hamas of actively preventing civilians from accessing the aid centers.
“It is clear that Hamas is threatened by this new operating model, and will do everything in its power to see it fail,” the organization stated.
The GHF also announced a leadership change, naming John Acree as interim executive director. Acree replaces the outgoing head, who resigned citing Israeli restrictions that he said made it impossible to uphold humanitarian standards. Acree, according to the GHF, has over 20 years of experience in global disaster response and civil-military coordination.
Formed earlier in the year, the GHF is part of an Israeli initiative to streamline aid delivery in Gaza while limiting Hamas interference. The model involves a small number of secure distribution sites in southern Gaza, where designated family members can collect food packages under the supervision of American private contractors.
