Despite continuous Israeli military activity in Gaza, the Hamas terrorist group is actively constructing new tunnels and enhancing existing ones. As reported by Kan Reshet Bet on Sunday, the IDF have managed to eliminate only around 25% of the tunnels known to belong to Hamas.
Military sources have voiced serious concerns about Hamas’s relentless tunnel reconstruction efforts. These passageways are strategically used by the group to avoid direct battles with Israeli troops. Reports indicate Hamas terrorists utilize the tunnels to place explosives and fire anti-tank missiles at soldiers before retreating underground.
In a separate event, IDF Chief of Staff Eyal Zarmir met with a group of recently released hostages, including Romi Gonen, Liri Albag, Sasha Trufanov, and Omer Shem Tov. The freed individuals shared accounts of their captivity, describing the sounds of explosions, tank movements, and IDF communications in Hebrew while held below ground.
Zamir reaffirmed the IDF’s focus on securing the return of all hostages and dismantling Hamas’s operational capabilities. “The return of the hostages and ensuring their safety remain our top priorities,” he said. “We will continue to take all necessary actions to achieve our war objectives—bringing all hostages home and defeating the Hamas terrorist organization.”
