Hamas has relaxed its stance on two major issues in its latest ceasefire-hostage release plan, according to a Monday evening Channel 12 report. The changes concern the release of prisoners serving life sentences and the extent of an Israeli buffer zone along the Gaza border.

Previously, Hamas demanded the release of 200 prisoners serving life sentences, while Israel had agreed to free 125. The group is now requesting roughly 150, significantly narrowing the difference, the network reports.

Regarding the Gaza border buffer zone, Israel has insisted on a strip between one and 1.2 kilometers. Hamas, which had earlier sought a maximum of 800 meters, is now willing to accept a zone ranging from 800 meters to one kilometer, the report adds.

An Arab diplomat told The Times of Israel that the updated proposal represents a retreat from most of the demands that caused last month’s Doha talks to collapse.

In recent hours, Israel’s lead negotiator, Strategic Affairs Minister Ron Dermer, has been in discussions with U.S. special envoy Steve Witkoff and Qatari mediators to clarify further details of the proposal, Channel 12 reports.
