A new report from Hillel International reveals a record-breaking 2,334 antisemitic incidents on American college campuses during the 2024–2025 academic year, even as instances of physical violence decreased.

This figure marks a 26% increase compared to the 1,853 cases documented the previous year, which followed the October 7, 2023 Hamas attack on Israel. Alarmingly, it represents nearly ten times the number of incidents, just 289, that were reported during the 2022–2023 school year, prior to the outbreak of war.

According to Hillel, the number of violent incidents—including threats, physical attacks, vandalism, and graffiti—declined by 22%, with 752 cases reported. However, the sharp increase in overall numbers was largely driven by a staggering 185% surge in online harassment.

Since October 7, antisemitic activity has risen dramatically across the United States and globally. The Anti-Defamation League recorded a record 9,354 antisemitic incidents in the US in 2024, including harassment, vandalism, and assault.

“Over the past year, many universities have made significant changes to better clarify and enforce their policies and codes of conduct, supported by our work with them to achieve these improvements,” said Hillel president and CEO Adam Lehman. “When universities step up and enforce their rules, Jewish students and all students benefit from a safer, more inclusive campus environment.”
