The IDF acknowledged delays in alerting the public during a ballistic missile attack by Houthi terrorists targeting the Haifa region earlier Wednesday.

A recently introduced system, designed to notify civilians of incoming long-range missiles via smartphone push notifications 3 to 5 minutes before warning sirens, was activated during the early-morning strike. However, the alert was received only moments before the sirens were triggered.

The IDF stated that while the missile was detected without issue, a “malfunction occurred in the transmitting of information” between the Israeli Air Force and the Home Front Command.

“The issue was addressed, but the information was transmitted partially and with a delay,” the military says.

“As a result, the preliminary directives were activated at shorter intervals than required,” the IDF adds.
