IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir has directed the military to broaden its ground operations against Hamas into new areas of the Gaza Strip, the military announced today.
Zamir conducted a situational assessment in southern Gaza alongside senior military officials, including Southern Command chief Maj. Gen. Yaniv Asor, Israeli Air Force chief Maj. Gen. Tomer Bar, COGAT head Maj. Gen. Ghassan Alian, and other commanders.
The IDF also stated that Zamir was instructed to open additional aid distribution centers to support the Palestinian civilian population.
“We are in the midst of a powerful and uncompromising campaign,” Zamir told troops stationed in Gaza, according to comments released by the IDF.
“Hamas is losing control. We eliminated the murderer Muhammad Sinwar, and to all other murderers of October 7, we convey a clear message: your day will come,” he said.
Meanwhile, Defense Minister Yisrael Katz said he had ordered the IDF to press on with its operations in Gaza to achieve all military objectives, “regardless of any negotiations.”
Katz added that he had directed the military to utilize all available capabilities to protect Israeli soldiers and eliminate Hamas forces.
