Earlier this morning (Monday), a group belonging to the Peleg Yerushalmy protested outside the Tel Hashomer IDF recruitment office in Ramat Gan, and attempted to blcok members of the Chareidi community who were making their way to enlist in the Military.

In response to the protest, IDF Chief of the General Staff, LTG Eyal Zamir, condemned the events and stated: “In the beginning of a week that marks the remembrance of Israel’s fallen and the importance of our independence as one united people, I view the actions of a small group of extremists with great severity,” Zamir noted.

The Chief added: “The IDF appreciates the enlistment of the young ultra-Orthodox individuals who arrived to enlist in the IDF and serve in a meaningful capacity to strengthen the security of the State of Israel. The military is prepared to integrate the ultra-Orthodox population in a manner that respects the unique character of this community.”

Zamir concluded: “In the midst of a multi-front war, the IDF needs everyone. We will continue to work towards this goal.”
