IDF Chief to Commanders: “From the Big Failure of October 7, We Achieved Tremendous Success”

At a conference with senior IDF commanders, Chief Eyal Zamir stated that the war against Hamas will continue until all deceased hostages hy”d, held in Gaza are brought back home.

“The war is not yet over; we must complete our sacred mission of bringing the fallen hostages home and continue the campaign against Hamas,” Zamir said.

The meeting, held today with operational unit commanders ranked lieutenant colonel and above, marked the start of a “learning process” for the IDF as it prepares for 2026.

Zamir further highlighted the importance of learning from past conflicts, stating, “Drawing lessons and learning constitute our moral and professional duty, and we will do so with courage and determination.”

Zamir also stressed the need to strengthen military foundations, support soldiers and their families, and prepare for future challenges across all fronts. The conference included presentations of operational and intelligence data, remarks from Defense Minister Israel Katz, and a panel with released hostages and families of those killed, whose bodies were recently returned.
