The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced that earlier today (Monday), a reserve officer was severely injured due to an explosion at an IDF outpost in southern Syria, near the Quneitra region.

The officer, who serves as the battalion rabbi for the sector, was scheduled to return home tomorrow after completing his reserve duty. He was evacuated to a hospital for medical treatment, and his family has been notified.

The IDF is actively investigating the source of the explosion. According to reports from Israeli media, the officer Rabbi likely triggered an old Syrian landmine while hopping off a tank parked near the Tel Kudana outpost in the Quneitra area of Syria. The landmine had not been previously identified.

According to a report, the Syrian group affiliated with the Shiite axis, known as “Al-Muqawama al-Wataniya” (National Resistance), claimed responsibility for the attack. The group stated that its members planted the explosive device at the entrance to one of the IDF’s new outposts in the Quneitra region, resulting in the severe injury of the reserve officer. The IDF continues to investigate the incident to determine the precise cause.
