A high-ranking Hamas terrorist commander who participated in the October 7 massacre was eliminated in a recent Israeli airstrike, the IDF and Shin Bet confirmed Thursday evening.
The July 10 strike, carried out under the direction of the IDF’s 282nd Artillery Regiment, targeted Iyad Nasser, identified by the military as the deputy commander of Hamas’s Jabalia battalion.
According to the IDF, Nasser was among the terrorists who breached the Israeli border on October 7, 2023. He was wounded in subsequent fighting during the Gaza war but later resumed his leadership position in the Jabalia battalion.
“Throughout the war, he took part in terror activities against IDF troops operating in the area, including in recent weeks,” the IDF stated.
Two other Hamas operatives who also participated in the October 7 attack were killed in the same strike, the army added. They were named as Hassan Mahmoud Muhammad Mar’i, commander of Hamas’s central Jabalia company, and Muhammad Zaki Shamadeh Hamad, who served as deputy commander in the Beit Hanoun Battalion.
