The IDF struck a meeting between two senior Hamas military officials in northern Gaza on Wednesday, according to the military.
The targeted officials were, according to reports, Ezz al-Din Baikh, commander of Hamas’s Northern Gaza Brigade, and Imad Aslim, deputy commander of Gaza City and commander of the Zaytoun neighborhood.
The IDF did not immediately confirm the outcome of the strike. The military said the operation was carried out based on actionable intelligence pinpointing the location of the meeting.
The strike comes as the IDF has sustained an intensified campaign against Hamas’ military command structure in recent weeks. Earlier this month, the IDF confirmed killing Hamas military chief Izz al-Din al-Haddad in a precise strike on Gaza City. Mohammed Odeh, who reportedly assumed command of Hamas’s military wing following al-Haddad’s death, was then killed in a subsequent strike on northern Gaza on Tuesday following months of intelligence monitoring and operational tracking.
One of the names the IDF has been tracking as part of Hamas’s effort to rebuild its command structure is Muhand Rajab, believed to have been recently promoted to command the “Gaza Brigade.”
