The IDF targeted 80 Hamas terrorist sites within 10 minutes Tuesday morning, with most targets hit within the first 2 minutes, the Jerusalem Post reported Wednesday, citing the military.

The IDF and the Shin Bet began operations at at 2:10 a.m. Tuesday, targeting mid-level Hamas commanders in Gaza and some senior Hamas political officials, but did not target senior Hamas military commanders like Mohammed Sinwar, who might be holding Israeli hostages nearby.

IDF sources told the Post that the operation is unfolding gradually and it is not yet known what form it will take and for how long.

At around 8 a.m. Tuesday, IDF Arabic Spokesman Col. Avichay Adraee instructed Gazans to move farther into Gaza from the border with Israel to avoid being swept up in the fighting.

According to leaks, Hamas has returned to a force of 25,000 and PIJ has 5,000 terrorists at its disposal, with both groups rebuilding military positions in Gaza.

Notably, Israeli reservists have not been called up, suggesting that the army is not planning an immediate ground operation.
