Israeli security forces recently stopped a Hamas cell that was preparing to infiltrate communities in northern Israel, preventing what officials say could have been a major terror attack or kidnapping attempt, Arutz 7 reported Motzoei Shabbos.

Two weeks ago, the IAF struck terrorists at a Hamas training site in southern Lebanon. “The military compound that was struck had been used by the terrorists for training and preparation in order to plan and carry out terror operations against IDF forces and the State of Israel,” the IDF said.

Lebanon’s Health Ministry claimed 14 people were killed and four were wounded in the strike.

Newly released intelligence shows the cell had been operating from inside Lebanon and was preparing to cross into the Galilee, with the intent to target civilians or carry out an abduction.

Security officials said Israel received advance warning of the planned infiltration, enabling intelligence and operational teams to move quickly and shut down the plot before it could unfold.

Full information about the cell and the operation remains under a gag order.

The IDF said in a statement that “IDF forces are constantly working to detect and thwart infiltration attempts from every front and will continue to act decisively to ensure the security of northern residents.”
