Slovenia has announced it will prohibit two senior Israeli ministers from entering its territory, marking what officials say is the first such action by a European Union member state.
According to a government statement, Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich and National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir—both prominent figures in Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu’s coalition—will be designated as “persona non grata.”
The statement accuses the ministers of promoting “extreme violence and serious violations of the human rights of Palestinians,” citing what Slovenian authorities called “their genocidal statements.”
