According to the Iranian Human Rights Organization HRANA, the death toll from the anti-regime protests in Iran could possibly exceed 22,000 overall, including 5,459 confirmed deaths, 17,031 deaths currently under investigation, 7,403 people seriously injured, and 40,887 arrested by regime authorities.
Meanwhile, senior Iranian health officials told Time magazine that the number of deaths during the protests on the nights of January 8–9 alone is likely higher than 30,000.
In contrast, Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi released the regime’s official figures, describing the unrest as the “mayhem of the recent terrorist operation in Iran.”
In a reply to an X post by U.S. Vice President Vance, Araghchi reported widespread damage to infrastructure and public property, including 305 ambulances and buses, 24 gas stations, 700 convenience stores, 300 private homes, 750 banks, 414 government buildings, 749 police stations, 120 Basij centers, 200 schools, 350 mosques, 15 libraries, 2 Armenian churches, 253 bus stations, 600 ATMs, and 800 private cars.
The regime’s total death toll stands at 3,117, with 2,427 classified as civilians and security forces, and 690 identified as “terrorists.”
