Israeli Prime Minister’s office said this evening that Israel agreed to a U.S. proposal to extend the hostage deal and ceasefire, but claims Hamas refused to the new proposal.

The U.S. has proposed a 42-day extension of the ceasefire in Gaza. Under this plan:

Initial Release: Half of the living hostages (around 10) and half of the murdered hostages held by Hamas will be released on the first day.

Negotiations: During the 42-day extension, negotiations will focus on a permanent ceasefire.

Final Release: If a permanent ceasefire is agreed upon, the remaining living and dead hostages will be released.

Currently, 59 hostages are still held by Hamas, with 22 believed to be alive, including one American, and 37 presumed dead.
