Israeli authorities said Tuesday that hostage Shlomo Mansour Hy”d, 86, was killed on Oct. 7 by terrorists. He was taken to Gaza after the massacre, but his fate was not determined until now.
Shlomo was a resident of Kibbutz Kissufim, and a survivor of the 1941 Farhoud pogrom in his native Iraq, where Muslims slaughtered hundreds of Jews, injured around 600 and looted thousands of shops and homes.
The IDF, in a statement, said that Shlomo’s family has been notified. His status was confirmed based on intelligence gathered over several months, and the final determination was made by a panel of experts from police, the Health Ministry, and the Religious Affairs Ministry, in addition to testimony from released hostages.
Shlomo, who was underweight when captured due to health issues, was the oldest hostage taken by the terrorists. He was taken to Gaza from his home in his own car, according to Ynet. His wife, Mazal, was kidnapped but b’chasdei Hashem was able to escape before being taken to Gaza.
