Israeli media reported Thursday that the IDF carried out one of its most significant strikes in Yemen to date, targeting senior Houthi leaders.

According to unnamed security officials cited in the reports, Israeli intelligence detected around 1 p.m. that ten Houthi ministers, including the defense minister, and other senior figures had assembled near Sanaa to hear a speech by the group’s leader, Abdul Malik al-Houthi.

The IDF launched an airstrike against the meeting. It is not yet confirmed whether the Houthis’ chief of staff, Muhammad Al-Ghamari, was among those present.

Israeli intelligence provided real-time monitoring of the gathering, allowing the strike to go forward despite heavy air defenses. Reports indicate that Israel closely watched Abdul Malik al-Houthi’s live address to see if he became aware that his top aides were being hit, but he appeared to continue without acknowledgment.

The results of the operation remain unclear.

Officials described the attack as a major move, though previous high-profile strikes in Yemen have not stopped the Houthis from continuing their drone and missile assaults against Israel.

The targeted strike followed two earlier interceptions of Houthi drones by the Israeli Air Force, making it the second IDF strike in Yemen this week.

“Whoever raises a hand against Israel, his hand will be cut off,” Defense Minister Yisrael Katz declared earlier in the day.
