Israel Strikes Houthi Targets in Yemen, IDF Confirms Major Operation

Defense Minister Yisrael Katz announced that Israeli forces carried out airstrikes in Yemen earlier today, targeting Houthi military camps where operatives were concentrated.

“We promised more strikes, and today we dealt another painful blow to the Houthi terror organization in Yemen,” Katz said in an official statement.

He added, “The IDF has just struck in Sanaa and other locations across Yemen, targeting military camps manned by Houthi operatives, including the Houthi propaganda apparatus.”

“The long arm of the State of Israel will reach and strike terrorism wherever it exists and from wherever a threat is posed to our citizens,” Katz continued.

Earlier Wednesday, Belaaz exclusively reported that Israeli fighter jets were heading to strike Houthi targets in Yemen and that Netanyahu received a confidential envelope during court testimony. The Prime Minister, the Defense Minister and other security chiefs reportedly gathered in the Kirya bunker in Tel Aviv at around 6:30pm Israel time.

The IDF confirmed responsibility for the strikes, saying it hit Houthi military camps, the group’s propaganda headquarters, and a fuel depot in both Sanaa and the al-Jawf region north of the capital.

The operation followed a series of Houthi missile and drone assaults on Israel in recent weeks, including a direct strike on Ramon Airport in southern Israel earlier this week.

According to the IDF, the Houthis’ propaganda division “is responsible for spreading incitement and propaganda messages in the media, including speeches by the leader Abdul-Malik [al-Houthi] and statements by spokesman Yahya Saree.”

“During the war, the headquarters has spearheaded the regime’s propaganda and psychological terror efforts,” the IDF noted.

Military officials added that the targeted camps were used by the Iran-backed Houthis to “plan and execute terror attacks against the IDF and the State of Israel. The camps also contained operations and intelligence command centers used by the regime.”

The IDF highlighted that this strike represented the longest flight undertaken by the Israeli Air Force since the war began, with fighter jets covering more than 2,350 kilometers (1,460 miles) to reach their targets.

Over 10 IAF fighter jets participated in the mission, releasing around 30 munitions on 15 separate targets in Sanaa and al-Jawf, the military confirmed. Several midair refuelings were required both on the way to Yemen and on the return to Israel.

While significant in scale, today’s operation was not the most distant strike of the war. Sanaa lies approximately 1,800 kilometers (1,118 miles) from Israel, but the jets had to divert around Saudi airspace. The farthest strike so far took place in June, when the IAF hit Mashhad Airport in Iran, about 2,300 kilometers (1,429 miles) away.
