The IDF deployed 50 munitions in Monday’s operation targeting Sanaa International Airport and other nearby locations under Houthi terrorist control in Yemen’s capital region.
An airport source told AFP that Israeli air raids led to the complete destruction of the airport.
“Three planes out of seven belonging to Yemenia Airlines were destroyed at Sanaa airport, and Sanaa International Airport was completely destroyed,” the official says.
The operation involved numerous aircraft from the Israeli Air Force, including fighter jets, aerial refueling tankers, and surveillance planes.
The IDF stated that their fighter jets managed to render the airport non-operational within just 15 minutes.
In addition to the airport, the airstrikes targeted multiple power facilities near Sanaa as well as a cement plant situated to the north of the capital, which the military says were being used by Houthis
Meanwhile, U.S. President Donald Trump announced that the United States will immediately cease its air campaign against the Houthis. He said the Iran-backed terrorists have conveyed to his administration that they no longer wish to engage in conflict.
“We will honor that and we still stop the bombings,” Trump tells reporters in the Oval Office, claiming the Houthis “capitulated.”
“We will take their word. They say they will not be blowing up ships anymore, and that was the purpose of what we’ve been doing,” he continues. “I think that’s very positive. They were knocking out of a lot of ships sailing beautifully down the various seas.”
Trump reiterated that the United States “will stop the bombing of the Houthis effective immediately.”
In his remarks, Trump did not refer to Israel or indicate whether the Houthis have also agreed to cease hostilities against the it or entities they allege have ties to Israel.
