Israeli officials expect the release of Israeli-American hostage Idan Alexander on Monday, between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m., with coordination ongoing for a safe transfer by the Red Cross and mediators.
Hamas dropped its demand to end the war to avoid Operation “Gideon’s Chariots,” facing a tight negotiation window as Israel prepares for intensified ground operations.
Israel agreed to negotiate under the White House Envoy Steve Witkoff framework, sending a delegation if Hamas shows genuine intent.
The plan’s first phase involves a 45-day ceasefire for 10-11 live hostages and several bodies, followed by talks for a full hostage release, Hamas disarmament, Hamas leadership exit from Gaza and end to the war.
As part of the deal, all humanitarian aid will go directly to Gaza civilians, under mediator oversight without Hamas involvement. Israel will also demand proof of the hostages’ well-being after the first phase.
