A young Jewish man Hy’d has passed away after being critically wounded in a Palestinian terror attack at the Jit Junction near Kedumim on Sunday afternoon.
Magen David Adom paramedics rushed to treat the victim at the scene. MDA Director General Eli Bin reported that the man, in his 20s, sustained a devastating head wound and was in critical condition before later succumbing to his injuries.
The terrorist responsible for the attack was shot and neutralized at the scene.
The IDF stated: “A report was received of a terror attack in the area of the Jit Junction in the Samaria Brigade, the details are being checked.” Large numbers of security forces were quickly dispatched to secure the area.
The terrorist was identified as 24-year-old Mahmoud al-A’qad from Shechem (Nablus).
Initial confusion surrounded the circumstances of the incident, with some security officials first suspecting gunfire. A senior source later clarified that it was a ramming attack, and there is also the possibility that the victim was struck by IDF fire while they targeted the terrorist.
According to a preliminary investigation, an IDF unit identified a Palestinian vehicle accelerating toward them and recognized it as an attempted ramming attack. Soldiers opened fire to neutralize the driver, and it is being examined whether the Israeli victim was injured as a result of the gunfire.
The IDF later announced: “Following the initial report of a stabbing attack at Jit Junction, security forces killed a terrorist who carried out a vehicular attack at the scene. The Samaria Brigade forces rushed to the area to conduct searches.”
Following the attack, IDF forces established roadblocks and launched searches in Shechem and neighboring villages.
Security forces remain on high alert as the investigation continues.
