Israelis are welcoming the confirmation of Mike Huckabee as the next U.S. Ambassador to Israel, and reports indicate that he is expected to appear in Israel next week.

Government ministers praised the appointment, noting that Huckabee is clearly a different kind of ambassador—well known for his strong pro-Israel views, including support for Jewish communities in Yehudah and Shomron.

Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar spoke with Ambassador-designate Huckabee just minutes after his confirmation by the U.S. Senate and congratulated him on the approval. Minister Sa’ar told Huckabee that he is confident that, as a proud American patriot and a devoted friend of Israel, he will make a unique and meaningful contribution to strengthening the strong alliance between the United States and Israel.

Mr. Huckabee is expected to arrive in Israel next week and will officially present his letter of credentials to the President of Israel after Pesach, officially assuming his role as ambassador.

Minister of Jerusalem Affairs and Jewish Tradition, Rabbi Meir Porush, said:
“Jerusalem warmly welcomes the friend of the Jewish people, Mr. Mike Huckabee, who was confirmed by the Senate to serve as the U.S. Ambassador in Jerusalem. The appointment of such a strong supporter of Jerusalem is a clear continuation of President Trump’s policies, including the embassy move and recognition of our capital. We do not need international validation for Jerusalem’s status, but the messages coming out of Washington resonate around the world.”

Israel’s Ambassador to the United Nations, Danny Danon, said:
“I congratulate my dear friend Mike Huckabee on his appointment as U.S. Ambassador to Israel. I’ve known Mike for decades—he is a true friend of Israel and the Jewish people. I look forward to working together to further strengthen the unwavering alliance between Israel and the United States.”

Minister Nir Barkat said:
“I welcome the appointment of Mike Huckabee as U.S. Ambassador to Israel. He is a true friend of the State of Israel who has consistently worked over the years to reinforce the alliance between our two nations. I have no doubt that in his new role, he will continue to deepen the strategic partnership between Israel and the United States.”
