Following an incident last night in Syria, in which terrorist forces attempted to approach IDF soldiers stationed in Syrian territory, Israeli Defense Minister Katz issued a stern warning overnight to the Syrian leader, cautioning against allowing hostile elements into Syria that threaten Israel.
“If you allow forces hostile to Israel to enter Syria and endanger Israeli security interests – you will pay a very heavy price. Israel’s Air Force activity is a warning for the future – we will not allow harm to the security of the State of Israel,” Minister Katz.
Katz added: “Israel will not permit Syria to become a threat to its communities or its security interests. IDF forces will continue to be stationed and operate on Mount Hermon and in designated buffer zones to protect communities in the Golan Heights and Galilee against any threat – just as we did yesterday when we eliminated terrorists who posed a danger to our troops.”
The defense minister also confirmed that the IDF carried out strikes in Syria last night: “Yesterday’s Air Force operations targeting airports in T4, Hama, and the Damascus area are a clear message and a warning for the future – we will not allow harm to the security of the State of Israel.”
